Exterior
The Sorento brings sleek styling and substance to the world of the urban SUV. The Sorento?s unique front mask is both futuristic and robust - from the linear design of the grille and headlights to the mesh-type fog lamps, with its aggressive wide bumper. The side profi le of the Sorento is stylish with eye-catching side mouldings and dynamic wheel arches. The side character line has been lowered to create a ?flying wing? side moulding for a sporty and aerodynamic shape. Various design applications like the extended rear window and large rear lights give the Sorento a wider appearance and a highly functional and full-bodied look. The Sorento comes standard with either 17-inch alloy wheels on the 5-seater package or 18-inch alloy wheels on the 7-seater package, both designs portraying a large appearance and sporty posture. The enhanced size of both the tailgate and rear ensure better visibility, promote stability and project a powerful stance.
Interior
Retaining the luxury exuded in most SUVs, the Sorento?s driver space is an area of high functionality and sophistication with its thoroughly modern, futuristic and stylish trimmings. The familiar Kia-style Supervision Cluster is complemented by 3D eff ects and illumination. The high-tech centre fascia features Kia?s Design Identity - an ergonomic layout and sporty illumination of the audio character line. The parallel arrangement of the gear lever and cup holders creates more space, especially in the console. Extending in a linear fashion from the crash pad, the door trim features an elegant grip handle and overall fi nish.
The Sorento features a Start/Stop Button with Smart Key* on the automatic model, which releases the steering lock and activates the ignition electronically without inserting the key when pressed. As a safety precaution the key must be in the vehicle to start the engine. The multimedia capabilities of the Sorento include a high-tech audio system, with audio remote controls on the steering wheel, and MP3/iPod/USB connectivity. The Sorento features a fully automatic dual climate control system with built-in air fi lter, reducing harmful radicals and odours as well as cruise control.
Interior trim is standard with black one-tone leather seats, except for the Muscle Beige exterior colour, which is fi tted with a Splendour Beige two-tone interior. Further convenience is off ered with the choice of a 5-seater or 7-seater. The 5-seater layout allows for more cargo space, while the 7-seater layout is competitively spacious while accommodating more passengers and interior arrangements. The driver?s power seat allows for customised mobility with a power lever that allows one-touch 8-way seating adjustments.
The 7-seater package features a Self Levelling Suspension System, which allows the vehicle height to be adjusted depending on the number of passengers and luggage weight to improve stability whilst driving. A Rear Parking Assist System (RPAS) and a Rear View Camera* protect against accidents when reversing.
Safety
The Sorento?s active safety devices feature the latest in steering and braking technology, while drivers can enjoy peace of mind with the high-tech passive safety equipment. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system is fully automatic and improves stability under heavy braking, restores directional control during potential skids, enhances grip in wet conditions and ensures superior traction during hard acceleration. Downhill Brake Control (DBC) is an advanced supplement to the ESC system, keeping the vehicle at a constant speed when braking downhill. Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) works with the ESC system to prevent rollback when the brakes are initiated while driving uphill.
For maximum stopping power, the Sorento is equipped with an All-Disc Braking System that has been made more eff ective with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). With a 6-airbag system, consisting of dual front, side and full-length curtain airbags, complemented by Active Headrests, everyone in the Sorento is protected.
